Job summary

Allied Maker in Glen Cove, NY is seeking a Design Engineer to translate creative direction into buildable fixtures. You will produce CAD models, drawings, and documentation that guide shop floors, vendors, and installers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, or closely related field.
• 3–5 years of design engineering experience creating production-ready drawings.
• Strong CAD skills in Autodesk Fusion (Fusion 360) or similar, with GD&T proficiency.
• Experience designing for multiple materials and processes (machining, metal spinning, casting, glass, wood).
• Balance aesthetic intent with buildability and iterative design with a team.

Responsibilities

• Create parametric 3D models and manufacturing drawings in Fusion 360 for collection and custom fixtures.
• Produce clean, dimensioned drawings with tolerances, finishes, and notes.
• Develop BOMs and revisions in NetSuite with support from the Systems Engineer.
• Partner with design studio from concept through production release; review concepts and prototype iterations.
• Lead prototype builds and capture lessons for production release.
• Review designs with Manufacturing Engineer for manufacturability and cost, and issue drawing packages to vendors.
• Incorporate feedback from QC and Assembly into drawings and ECOs.
• Design fixtures meeting UL standards in collaboration with Assembly Engineer.
