Job summary

Engineering Resource Group, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a permanent position in West Haverstraw, NY. You will design and develop mechanical architectures for lighting fixtures, managing everything from prototypes to full production release.

The ideal candidate should possess a BS in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years of relevant experience, with strong skills in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and knowledge of lighting fundamentals.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience across the full product development cycle, from concept through production.

Job description

• Permanent position for a Mechanical Engineer for a lighting manufacturing company.
• Design and develop the mechanical architecture of lighting fixtures, taking products from prototype through full production release.
• Build and revise 3D models and detailed drawings in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), and generate methods of manufacture and bills of materials in the ERP system.
• Run structural and thermal simulations to validate integrity and optimize performance.
• Author and execute test plans verifying mechanical, optical, and electrical components against spec and quality standards.
• Partner with manufacturing to drive a clean design-to-production handoff, owning drawings, documentation, and resolution of production issues.
• Drive design, performance, and manufacturing improvements across the full product life cycle.
• BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in lighting, fixture design, or a related technical field.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and AutoCAD for drafting.
• Working knowledge of lighting fundamentals, including thermal management, optics, and applicable standards (i.e. UL standards).
• Hands-on experience across the full product development cycle, from concept through production, including prototyping and validation testing.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and validation test methods.
• Strong communications skills, especially writing.
• Experience with architectural or specification-grade lighting products a plus.
