Job summary

EwingCole, a nationally recognized architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, invites applications for a Lighting Design Intern in the Philadelphia or Wayne office for Summer 2027.

The intern will perform lighting design and documentation under the supervision of the senior lighting designer, gaining mentored experience in design techniques, the lighting design process, and client presentations.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program studying Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Architecture.
• Experience with engineering calculation programs and equipment selection software.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic computer analysis skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD/Revit preferred.
• Previous internship experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform lighting design and documentation under supervision of senior lighting designer.
• Complete lighting calculations in AGI32 to aid fixture selections and layouts.
• Review products from manufacturers to understand components and quality.
• Learn about different lighting control systems and apply selections to projects.
• Review national and local lighting and energy codes and apply to projects.
• Document projects including basic design and mark-ups using AutoCAD and Revit.
