EwingCole in Philadelphia or Wayne is seeking a Lighting Designer 2 to lead lighting design and documentation with minimal supervision. This role applies advanced lighting design knowledge to develop concepts, perform calculations, and coordinate lighting systems across all project phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical/Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or Theater.
• EIT or LC Intern/LC Certified encouraged.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and the Microsoft Suite.

Our multi-disciplinary practice is built on the core values of professional excellence, design quality and collaboration. We are looking for an Lighting Designer 2 to join our team in our Philadelphia or Wayne office.

The Lighting Designer 2 leads lighting design and documentation efforts with minimal supervision. This role applies advanced lighting design knowledge to develop concepts, perform and review calculations, and coordinate lighting systems across all phases of a project. The Lighting Designer 2 contributes to client deliverables, participates in presentations, and provides guidance and mentorship to junior staff.

Essential Functions:

• Documentation: Creates drawings and models used to accurately deliver projects, including lighting plans, details, and coordinated drawing sets, and coordinates key project decisions with the Project Engineer
• Software: Determines implementation strategies for unique tasks
• Building Technology: Capable of coordinating and integrating building systems
• Project Delivery: Demonstrates experience in all phases from concept to construction administration, ensuring design intent and technical quality are maintained
• Codes: References applicable codes in the development of projects and correctly designs to the code provisions.
• Quality Standards: Applies standards in project delivery and checks work for issues
• Sustainability: Considers engineering optimization in the development of projects, including energy performance of lighting systems and controls
• Design Generation: Initiates the design approach to distinctive solutions which consider the totality of a project, including development of lighting layouts, fixture selections, and lighting control systems
• Material Research: Incorporates sustainability and energy compliance concepts in product discussions and selection
• Construction Administration: Completes submittal reviews, RFIs, and reports on site observations
• Calculations: Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and best practices to analyze lighting conditions and develop calculations
• Cost Consciousness: Analyzes construction cost estimates for alignment of design intent and approved budgets and develops alternatives for controlling project costs
• Design Communication: Communicates lighting design intent, technical decisions, and cost implications effectively to clients, consultants, and project teams, including preparation and delivery of presentation materials
• Profitability: Shows foundational capability in effectively managing fees, resources, and the project delivery schedule to ensure the financial health of a project
• Specification Writing: Assists in defining the design intent for material qualitative requirements and performance standards to ensure contractually enforceable and accurate representation of the design

Requirements

• Bachelor in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or Theater
• E.I.T. or LC Intern/LC Certified Encouraged
• EwingCole currently utilizes Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and the Microsoft Suite software to deliver projects
• Excels in the guidelines of preceding roles including Lighting Designer 1
