Job summary

Linn County IA is seeking a dispatcher to coordinate and monitor daily operations for the LIFTS transportation program. You will receive ride requests, schedule drivers, and dispatch vehicles to transport elderly and disabled riders, ensuring timely and safe service.

The role requires a high school diploma, at least one year in driving or customer service, and a Iowa CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements. You’ll work Monday to Friday, 8 a.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of paid driving, customer service, or human services experience.
• Valid Iowa CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements required.

Responsibilities

• Receive and log ride requests; coordinate trip planning.
• Create and adjust daily driver schedules and trip manifests.
• Dispatch drivers via radio or digital systems and maintain contact on routes.
• Provide real-time communication to drivers about passenger needs and delays.
• Act as substitute driver for emergencies or coverage.
• Maintain accurate ride logs and service records.
• Collaborate with dispatch team to improve scheduling and service delivery.
• Engage with passengers to resolve concerns and ensure a positive experience.
