Job summary

City of Phenix City is seeking a full-time Utilities position in the City’s Utilities Building. Under direction, the employee inspects vehicles and equipment, performs minor repairs, and assists with sewer service installations and repairs.

This role requires operating trenching equipment and coordinating crews. The incumbent will locate utility lines, collect water samples for testing, and ensure safety and compliance with department procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and operate equipment for installations and repairs.
• Locate utility lines before digging or installing new equipment.
• Supervise and coordinate crews; train, assign work, oversee tasks.
• Collect water samples and forward to laboratory for testing.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
