Job summary

The City of Amarillo seeks a Lift Station Maintenance Mechanic I to perform semi-skilled service and maintenance of pumps, motors, and electrical equipment in sewer lift stations within the wastewater system. This role requires working shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed, with weather essential status.

Under supervision, you will inspect, repair, replace components, clear clogs, operate flow meters and gas detectors, and maintain vehicles and equipment in safe condition

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED plus 2 years in sewer maintenance.
• Experience in pump or motor maintenance preferred.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and replace pumps and motors in lift stations.
• Remove debris and repack pumps; service electrical control devices.
• Operate flow meters and gas detectors; maintain safety equipment.
• Clean wet wells and perform routine maintenance.
• Work shifts including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Maintain city vehicles and equipment.
