Job summary

Northshore YMCA in Salem, MA is hiring part-time Lifeguards to monitor pools, ensure safety, and provide a welcoming environment for members of all ages.

We offer free lifeguard certification for qualified applicants, flexible shifts across mornings, days, evenings and weekends, and paid training with opportunities for advancement within Aquatics at the YMCA. If you are not yet certified, training opportunities may be available.

Qualifications

• A minimum age of 16 years.
• Current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen Administration OR willingness to obtain certifications.
• A calm, confident presence with strong attention to safety and detail.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Seeking availability for both weekday and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pools to keep swimmers safe and respond as needed.
• Create a welcoming and positive experience for members and participants.
• Teach swim lessons using YMCA of the USA curriculum (for Swim Instructors).
• Participate in paid training, ongoing education, and team development.
