Job summary

The Lifeguard role at the YMCA of Greater Cleveland focuses on creating a safe and welcoming environment while ensuring compliance with all health and safety standards. You will monitor the pool area, enforce rules, and respond promptly to emergencies, working with a diverse community of members, volunteers, and staff.

Required certifications include CPR and First Aid, with YMCA Lifeguard (or Red Cross Lifeguard) credentials, and a readiness to complete additional safety trainings.

Qualifications

• CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
• Hold current YMCA Lifeguard certification (or a valid Red Cross Lifeguard certification) and attend YMCA crossover within 90 days.
• WSI certification is a plus.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Actively maintains current CPR, First Aid and other required certifications.
• Ensure safety of all participants in the aquatics area at all times.
• Notify supervisor of faulty equipment or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Document incidents and maintain a positive, friendly presence with members and staff.
