Job summary

YMCA of Greater Cleveland is seeking a Lifeguard to create a safe and positive atmosphere in the pool area and surrounding spaces. You will promote a safe swimming environment, supervise participants, and ensure enforcement of YMCA policies.

Requirements include CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire, and a current Lifeguard certification (YMCA or Red Cross). Must be at least 16 years old; WSI is a plus. Join a team dedicated to healthy bodies and strong communities.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and understand written directions.
• Commitment to YMCA mission and values.
• Willingness to be a mandated reporter for child abuse/neglect.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe swimming environment in pool, deck and surrounding areas.
• Monitor water quality (chlorine, pH) and temperature hourly.
• Respond to emergencies and follow safety procedures.
• Document incidents and notify supervisor.
• Assist members in a friendly, positive manner while enforcing rules.
