Job summary

The Red Wing Family YMCA is seeking a part-time or full-time Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. You will enforce YMCA safety policies and engage members in a positive, welcoming environment.

Responsibilities include constant surveillance, emergency procedures, reporting, record-keeping, equipment checks, and participation in staff trainings. Must be at least 16 and hold CPR/AED for professional rescuers and YMCA/Red Cross Lifeguarding/First

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16
• Certifications: CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid, and Oxygen (preferred)
• Ability to maintain certification-level readiness

Responsibilities

• Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area.
• Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergencies immediately.
• Completes related reports as required.
• Maintains positive relationships with members and staff.
• Applies safety rules and guidelines for pool and aquatic areas.
• Maintains accurate records as required by YMCA and state Health Department.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures equipment is available.
• Checks the pool for hazardous conditions on arrival.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Maintains current required certifications.
• Completes additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Fosters an inclusive environment and supports equity and diversity initiatives
