Job summary

Bath Area Family YMCA is seeking an Opening Lifeguard to supervise the pool and ensure patron safety in Bath, ME. The role requires current lifeguard and CPR certifications, with duties focused on rescue readiness, zone visibility, and enforcing safety rules.

Under the Aquatics leadership, you will follow YMCA policies, participate in trainings, and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all swimmers of diverse ages and abilities.

Qualifications

• Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR certifications.
• Excellent communication and vigilance while supervising pool areas.

Responsibilities

• Maintain rescue readiness at all times and supervise pool area.
• Enforce safety rules and respond to emergencies per YMCA policies.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
• Complete off-scan duties including water testing and incident reporting.
• Be available for opening shifts and local travel as needed.
