Job summary

HealthFitness is seeking a dependable Lifeguard for a premier client site in the Seagate area of South Brooklyn, NY. The role focuses on maintaining a safe aquatic environment and delivering excellent service to members and guests on a flexible schedule.

Shifts include early mornings (7:00 AM-12:00 PM) and/or afternoons/evenings (3:00 PM-8:00 PM). Training and meetings are part of the role, with emphasis on safety and customer care.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
• Meet HealthFitness Fitness and Skill standards.
• Strong customer service and positive interaction with people of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure safety and well-being of patrons using the aquatic facilities.
• Enforce and explain rules as necessary.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Perform chemical testing and document results for three bodies of water and a hot tub four times a day.
• Attend required staff meetings and training.
• Fold towels, clean areas, refill water machines, and inspect facilities for safety.
• Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
• Other duties as assigned.

We are looking for a dependable and safety-focused Lifeguard to join our team at a premier client site located in the Seagate area of South Brooklyn, NY. In this role, you'll help maintain a safe, welcoming aquatic environment while providing excellent service to members and guests. This position is ideal for an independent professional who is confident making decisions and responding effectively in a fast-paced setting.

Enjoy a flexible schedule

with availability for early morning shifts (7:00 AM-12:00 PM) and/or afternoon/evening shifts (3:00 PM-8:00 PM).

Key Accountabilities

• Monitor and ensure safety and well-being of patrons using the aquatic facilities.
• Enforce and explain rules as necessary.
• Respond appropriately to any emergency.
• Perform chemical testing and documents results for three bodies of water and a hot tub four times a day.
• Attend all required staff meetings and training.
• Ensure that needs of the aquatic center are being met by folding towels; cleaning; filling water machines; and inspecting the Aquatics Facility to ensure safe environment for members.
• Maintain a professional attitude.
• Other duties as needed/assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.
• Meet HealthFitness Fitness and Skill standards.
• Be dependable, alert and able to interact with people of all ages in a positive manner with strong customer service skills.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; and working knowledge of the member management system, databases, and tools.

All lifeguards are required to perform a basic lifeguard skill test consisting of:

• Active, Passive, Submerged rescues.
• Spinal injury management in shallow and deep water.
• Other various techniques that were learned during the Lifeguard Training Program.

The compensation range for this role is $16/hr - $18hr. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
