Job summary

HealthFitness has a great opportunity for a part-time/on-call Lifeguard at our client site in West Hartford, CT. You will monitor and ensure a safe, friendly environment for all aquatic facility members and guests, enforcing rules and responding to emergencies.

The role requires being at least 16, American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid, and basic computer proficiency (MS Office).

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.
• Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with member management systems/databases/tools.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with people of all ages.

Responsibilities

As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all of the aquatic facility members and guests.Responsible for monitoring and ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all of the aquatic facility members and guests.Key AccountabilitiesMonitor and ensure safety and well-being of patrons using the aquatic facilities.Enforce and explain rules as necessary.Respond appropriately to any emergency.Perform chemical testing and documents results for three bodies of water and a hot tub four times a day.Attend all required staff meetings and training.Ensure that needs of the aquatic center are being met by folding towels; cleaning; filling water machines; and inspecting the Aquatics Facility to ensure safe environment for members.Maintain a professional attitude.Other duties as needed/assigned.Minimum RequirementsMust be at least 16 years old.American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.Meet HealthFitness Fitness and Skill standards.Be dependable, alert and able to interact with people of all ages in a positive manner with strong customer service skills.Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; and working knowledge of the member management system, databases, and tools.All lifeguards are required to perform a basic lifeguard skill test consisting of:500 yard swim.Active, Passive, Submerged rescues.Spinal injury management in shallow and deep water.Other various techniques that were learned during the Lifeguard Training Program.Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test. The compensation range for this role is $15.00 - $18.50/hour or annual. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
