Job summary

HealthFitness is seeking energetic part-time Lifeguards for our client site in Burlington, Wisconsin. The role involves monitoring and ensuring a safe, friendly aquatic environment and responding to emergencies as needed.

Applicants must be 16+ and hold the American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid. Proficiency with MS Office and a member system is expected; flu vaccination is required in Fall.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Lifeguarding certification with CPR/AED and First Aid.
• Meet HealthFitness fitness and skill standards.
• Strong customer service and positive interaction with all ages.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety and well-being of patrons using aquatic facilities.
• Enforce and explain rules as necessary.
• Respond to emergencies as needed.
• Perform water testing and document results four times daily for three bodies of water and a hot tub.
• Attend required staff meetings and training.
• Support facility operations by tasks like folding towels, cleaning, refilling water machines, and inspecting the aquatics area.
• Maintain a professional attitude.

Responsible for monitoring and ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all of the aquatic facility members and guests.

Key Accountabilities

• Monitor and ensure safety and well-being of patrons using the aquatic facilities.

• Enforce and explain rules as necessary.

• Respond appropriately to any emergency.

• Perform chemical testing and documents results for three bodies of water and a hot tub four times a day.

• Attend all required staff meetings and training.

• Ensure that needs of the aquatic center are being met by folding towels; cleaning; filling water machines; and inspecting the Aquatics Facility to ensure safe environment for members.

• Maintain a professional attitude.

• Other duties as needed/assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.

• American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.

• Meet HealthFitness Fitness and Skill standards.

• Be dependable, alert and able to interact with people of all ages in a positive manner with strong customer service skills.

• Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; and working knowledge of the member management system, databases, and tools.

• Flu vaccination required during the Fall season.

All lifeguards are required to perform a basic lifeguard skill test consisting of:

• 500 yard swim.

• Active, Passive, Submerged rescues.

• Spinal injury management in shallow and deep water.

• Other various techniques that were learned during the Lifeguard Training Program.

The compensation range for this role is $12/hr - $14/hr. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
