Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking lifeguards aged 16+ who will monitor pool safety, enforce rules, and provide a safe, welcoming environment for all swimmers. The role emphasizes communication, leadership and responsibility as part of ongoing community service.

Responsibilities include watching swimmers, applying safety procedures, and maintaining pool deck cleanliness, with flexible early shifts and access to YMCA membership benefits.

Qualifications

• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or ability to pass the course.
• Strong swim skills and a passion for safety around water.
• Good communication and teamwork to supervise pool participants.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the safety and surveillance of all pool participants.
• Understanding and applying organizational safety procedures for the pool deck and aquatic areas.
• Maintaining organization and cleanliness of the pool deck, including skimming and brushing.
