Job summary

The YMCA of the North is hiring a Lifeguard-In Training at the Andover YMCA Community Center to support aquatic safety and member service.

Youth applicants aged 15+ will receive paid training, learn lifeguard skills, shadow certified lifeguards, and earn the opportunity to advance to a Lifeguard role with increased hourly pay ($16.50) after certification. Shifts include early mornings and daytime hours, with a 3–4 hour session, and a free Y membership as a benefit.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 15,
• Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Patience and the ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers.
• Demonstrated ability to swim in shallow and deep water, and tread water.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist lifeguards and learn programming and emergency procedures.
• Know, understand, and communicate policies and procedures for the pool, body of water and whirlpool.
