Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Lifeguard I (Training Will Be Provided if Needed) in the Boston area. The role involves guarding the pool, enforcing rules, and following branch emergency protocols under the supervision of the Aquatics Director.

The position requires the ability to scan the pool continuously, respond to emergencies, and provide basic lifesaving care. Training is provided and shifts may include early mornings, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• CPR certification required or obtained upon hire.
• First Aid certification required or obtained upon hire.
• Oxygen administration training may be required.

Responsibilities

• Guard the pool and scan continuously to prevent emergencies.
• Recognize emergencies and respond immediately with appropriate action.
• Activate branch and pool EAP when needed.
• Perform rescues and provide CPR, First Aid, or oxygen as required.
• Complete incident reports promptly and accurately.
• Enforce pool rules and maintain a safe, clean pool environment.
