Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Lifeguard II at the Roxbury YMCA to safeguard swimmers, enforce pool rules, and implement branch safety protocols under the Aquatics Director.

Active Lifeguard Certifications are required. Responsibilities include scanning, emergency response (CPR/First Aid/O2), incident reporting, and pool maintenance. Shifts vary and may include early mornings, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must have active Lifeguard Certifications (YMCA, Red Cross)
• Must be able to scan the pool visually and enforce rules
• CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications required
• 18+ years old and able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Shifts include early mornings, nights, and weekends

Responsibilities

• Prevent emergencies by scanning the pool continuously
• Recognize emergencies and address immediately
• Activate branch EAP when needed
• Perform assists or rescues as needed
• Provide CPR, First Aid, and O2 as needed
• Complete incident reports promptly
• Enforce pool rules professionally
• Maintain a clean and safe pool environment
• Assist with cleaning/testing when off the stand
• Communicate with supervisors clearly
• Participate in safety drills and trainings
• Arrive 10 minutes early for shifts
