Job summary

The YMCA Lifeguard at the Atchison Family YMCA is responsible for protecting swimmers, preventing accidents, and creating a welcoming space for members and visitors.

Certification is provided if not already earned, including CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard training. Candidates must be at least 16 and able to pass a physical competency test. Training and opportunities for advancement are available.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• National CPR, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, and Lifeguard certification.
• Ability to pass a physical competency test.

Responsibilities

• Continuously scan the pool, whirlpool and sauna areas for safe conditions.
• Enforce posted rules and ensure participant safety at all times.
• Open and close the facility and assist with lap swim and pool operations.
• Complete monthly in-service training sessions and safety audits.
• Report accidents and safety concerns to the Aquatics Director promptly.
• Be a team player and communicate any unsafe conditions to staff immediately.
