Job summary

YMCA of Greater Kansas City is hiring a Lifeguard to monitor pool areas, enforce safety rules, and provide a welcoming experience for members and visitors. The organization offers free lifeguard training and certification, ongoing training, and free YMCA membership to all centers.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• National CPR, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, and Lifeguard certification. Don’t have certification yet? We provide free training and certification!
• Able to pass a physical competency consisting of swimming endurance drills and timed events.

Responsibilities

• Continuously scan the pool, whirlpool and sauna areas for safe conditions and enforce posted rules.
• Maintain high level of alertness at all times during shifts.
• Open and close the pool area and ensure lap swim continuity.
• Complete required in-service training and participate in ongoing safety checks.
• Report accidents or safety concerns to Aquatics Director immediately.
