Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 15.
• Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent.
• Complete all required Redwoods trainings by their completion deadlines.
• Child abuse prevention policies must be understood and followed.

Responsibilities

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
• Reviews emergency procedures and responds immediately per YMCA policies.
• Responds to challenges with timely solutions.
• Applies safety rules and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
• Maintains accurate records as required by YMCA and health codes.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures available equipment.
• Checks pool for hazards on arrival and during shifts.
• Performs chemical testing when not guarding and takes action.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
