Job summary

YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming pool area for members and participants. Under the Aquatics Director, you will monitor activity, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies with professional lifeguard procedures.

You will maintain certifications, participate in staff trainings, and support the YMCA's mission and core values in every interaction. This role requires readiness to work varied shifts in a community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification (infant, child and adult), Oxygen Admin and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of every individual at the YMCA pool and surrounding areas.
• Enforce pool rules and CT Health Department sanitary requirements.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary facility.
• Attend staff meetings and in-services as required.
• Be prepared to respond to emergencies and assist with evacuations as needed.
• Maintain required certifications and complete all assigned duties.
