Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years old.
• Currently certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/ CPR/ AED/ First Aid.
• Training will be provided on-site to get recertified.
• Complete Harassment Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens, and SERT training within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prevents aquatic emergencies by scanning, enforcing policies and maintaining a safe environment.
• Acts immediately to secure patron safety in emergencies.
• Provides emergency care within training scope until EMS arrival.
• Upholds employee policies and presents a professional appearance.
• Maintains high standard of customer service and communicates respectfully.
• Be prepared for drills and maintain physical fitness per Aquatics Management.
• Attend mandatory in-services and meetings.
• Performs opening, on-shift, and closing duties.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by Aquatics Management.

Job description

The Lifeguard monitors the pool area, providing a safe experience for the Stanford community (students, staff, faculty and their guests). The Lifeguard will take preventative actions while on duty and act immediately and appropriately to emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Prevents aquatic emergencies from occurring by constantly scanning and enforcing all facility policies and maintaining a safe environment.
• Acts immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
• Provides emergency care and treatment within the lifeguard’s scope of training until the arrival of Emergency Medical Services.
• Upholds all employee expectations, policies and procedures.
• Presents a professional appearance and positive attitude while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
• Communicates respectfully and effectively with patrons, supervisor and co-workers.
• Prepares to be drilled at any time, during a scheduled shift and demonstrates adequate delivery of skills and maintains physical fitness as determined by Aquatics Management.
• Attends and participates in all mandatory in-services and meetings.
• Performs opening, on shift and closing duties.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Aquatics Management.

Work Hour Requirements:

• During the school year: Employees must work a minimum of 8-10 hours per week and provide availability in WhenToWork for at least 12-15 hours per week.
• During the summer: Employees must work a minimum of 20 hours per week and provide availability in WhenToWork for at least 30 hours per week.
