Job description

Job Type: Seasonal.

Note - this position is for the Summer of 2023. The start date and end date are flexible.

Position Title: Lifeguard.
Position Reports To: Clubhouse Manager, General Manager and Facilities Manager (CPO)
Employee Categories: Part-Time Seasonal.
FLSA Category: Non-Exempt; Hourly Position.

Lifeguards are responsible for guarding the pool and the members in the pool area. Lifeguards are also responsible for greeting the members, testing the pool for chlorine, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe deck area and locker room area.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Ensure a safe and friendly aquatic environment.
2. Provide excellent service to members and guests.
3. Ensure the pool staff models outstanding standards of service.
4. Be familiar with and uphold the rules set forth by BHCC.
5. Recognize emergencies and respond effectively.
6. Promote private lessons, group lessons, swim team, and summer program.
7. Knowledgeable about The Pump Room and all aspects of daily operations.
8. Regular and flexible availability.
9. Assist with lessons, swim team, and summer program.
10. Assist with daily statistics.
11. Assist with pool events.
12. Continued education: re-certification as necessary.
13. Continued development of standard operating procedures.
14. Special projects as assigned by General Manager/Clubhouse Manager/Aquatic Director.
15. On rainy days or days the pool may close, lifeguards are given the opportunity to keep their hours by completing other tasks around Blue Hill Country Club.

Required Skills:

1. Ability to communicate clearly.
2. Exposure to a private club environment is preferable.
3. Lifeguards must love to interact with all ages and have a passion for swimming.

Specialized Knowledge:

1. Lifeguard Red Cross certified.
2. CPR/AED certified.

Uniform:

1. A bathing suit and Tee Shirt provided by BHCC.
2. Sweatshirt provided by BHCC.
3. Red mesh shorts.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to be in the pool for long periods.
2. Ability to sit for 8 hours.
3. Ability to clean the bathroom, including floors and toilets.
4. Ability to perform all physical requirements as outlined by the lifeguard certification course.
5. Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
6. Reliability and reliable transportation are a must.

$17 to $25/hour depending upon qualifications. The position requires 24 - 40 hours per week, holidays, and weekends.
Must be available from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend.
