Lifeguard

DUTIES:

• Provides a safe swimming environment.
• May coach and teach swim lessons or swim team.
• Performs pool facility related work as instructed by supervisor.
• Assists pool managers and head lifeguards in implementing policies, procedures, and safety rules for pool personnel and the public.
• Prepares accident and incident records and reports.
• Reacts quickly and decisively in emergencies and takes charge.
• Solves problems calmly and openly while maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the program.
• Communicates both verbally and in writing.
• Creates effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Must be available to work a variety of shifts including weekdays and weekends.
• Not to exceed 39 hours per week.
• Must hold or be able to obtain the Red Cross Lifeguard Certification to ensure safe operation of the pool.
