Job summary

DEAN Adventure Camps is seeking a Summer Camp Lifeguard & Assistant Counselor to ensure water safety and engage with campers. The role includes supervising aquatic activities and supporting camp programs. Ideal candidates will have Lifeguard certification and experience working with children, ensuring a safe and fun environment for all.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure water safety for all campers and staff.
2. Enforce pool and waterfront rules to prevent accidents.
3. Supervise swimmers and assess skill levels.
4. Perform rescues & administer First Aid/CPR in emergencies.
5. Engage with campers to build confidence in the water.
6. Inspect and maintain aquatic areas & safety equipment.

Support as an Assistant Camp Counselor when not supervising the pool, including:

1. Supporting all program areas as needed.
2. Assisting with team-building challenges and outdoor adventures.
3. Managing groups with enthusiasm, patience, and creativity.

Qualifications

• Current American Red Cross, YMCA, Ellis & Associates, or equivalent Lifeguard certification.
• CPR/AED & First Aid Certified with up-to-date credentials.
• Prior lifeguard experience preferred.
• Strong swimmer, able to pass rescue skills swim test.
• Alert & attentive with strong observational skills.
• Experience working with children is a plus.
• Calm under pressure and adaptable.

Schedule & Requirements

• June–August (dates vary by location)
• Monday–Friday, 36–40 hours/week
• Fully vaccinated and up-to-date on immunizations.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, respond quickly to emergencies, work outdoors.
