Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish) preferred but not required.
• Must meet one or more: Associate’s degree / 72 college credits / ETS paraeducator assessment.
• Prior paraeducator experience and/or work with special needs students is preferred.
• Valid First aid and/or CPR for infants/children or willingness to obtain CPI training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support instruction and behavior interventions using ABA techniques as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Facilitate expressive and receptive communication using AAC devices and picture exchanges under guidance.
• Use de-escalation strategies and follow behavior support and CPI protocols for student safety.
• Deliver individualized or small-group instruction and monitor engagement.
• Administer first aid to provide emergency care.
• Assist with needs related to working with special needs students (diapering, feeding, toileting, etc.).
• Provide one-on-one or small group instruction as needed.
• Assist with classroom management and staff as directed.
• Prepare materials needed to conduct lessons.
• Provide supervision during arrivals/departures, transit, meals, recess, and other activities.
• Assist with light cleaning and equipment setup.
• Attend required trainings for paraeducator certification.
• Maintain student records and assist with assessments as directed.
• Translate verbal/written information (bilingual) to assist students and staff.
• Participate in district meetings and communicate feedback.
• Support safe and productive learning environment.
