Job summary

North Star Independent Living Supports LLC is seeking a Life Skills Instructor in Indio, California. In this role, you will assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving their goals through teaching and support. Candidates should have a high school diploma, a clean background and DMV record, First Aid and CPR certification, and at least one year of experience working with intellectually/developmentally disabled populations. Qualifications

Job Overview

The purpose of the Life Skills Instructor is to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with working on the goals and objectives they have identified and outlined for themselves to live as independently as possible in the home of their choice.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Teach and instruct others.
• Communicate effectively in writing.
• Convey information effectively.
• Know how to take direction.
• Work within a team setting.
• Be able to plan, organize, and prioritize work to the performance of this job description.
• Responsible for completing all ongoing notes and submitting them to the office at the end of the month.
• Responsible for accurately completing and submitting Timesheet and Mileage Logs at the time specified by administration.
• Actively look for methods, ways to help others.
• Attend In-Service Training.
• Determine a course of action based upon information or actions of others.
• Select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when working, learning, or teaching new things.

NorthStar operates in Riverside County and San Bernardino County. Work environment may include working with clients in their homes or out in the community.
