Job summary

NorthStar Independent Living Supports LLC is seeking a Life Skills Instructor to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving self‑directed goals for independent living in the home or community. Your role emphasizes hands‑on coaching, safety, and empowerment to maximize daily living skills and community participation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Clean Background check.
• Clean DMV record.
• Valid California Driver’s License.
• First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Valid Vehicle Insurance and proof of vehicle registration.
• A minimum of one year of experience with the Intellectually/Developmentally Disabled population.
• Be able to Lift, Stoop, Bend, and pull up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Teach and instruct others.
• Communicate effectively in writing.
• Convey information effectively.
• Know how to take direction.
• Work within a team setting.
• Be able to plan, organize, and prioritize work to the performance of this job description.
• Responsible for completing all ongoing notes and submitting them to the office at the end of the month.
• Responsible for accurately completing and submitting Time Sheet and Mileage Logs at the time specified by administration.
• Actively look for methods, ways to help others.
• Attend In-Service Training.
• Determine a course of action based upon information or actions of others.
• Select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when working, learning, or teaching new things.
