Job summary

Child & Family seeks a Life Skills Coach to support Semi-Independent Living and Independent Living programs in Providence, RI. You’ll help clients create individualized plans for transition to permanence and independence by building life skills for vocational training, finances, and education, with services before and after transition.

The role is hybrid with 20% remote work; travel statewide is required. You’ll collaborate with treatment teams and community partners to promote self-sufficiency

Qualifications

• Associate degree in social work, psychology, or related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in human services, housing or homeless services; life coach experience preferred.
• Statewide travel is required.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking and time-management skills.
• Basic computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
• Ability to communicate with a diverse population.
• Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate individual and group life skills trainings; develop workshops and update curriculum as needed.
• Assess clients’ learning capabilities and problem-solving skills.
• Apply resources to designed curriculum to meet clients’ needs.
• Build professional relationships within clients’ communities (parents, police, DCYF, schools).
• Communicate with the treatment team to support self-sufficiency plans (employment, vocational/educational needs).
• Collaborate with outside workforce organizations and refer clients to community resources for job placement.
• Foster a trauma-informed environment with empathy, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
