BCG Attorney Search is seeking a highly motivated Intellectual Property Associate with a strong background in biotechnology patenting to join our Miami, FL office. The role involves handling sophisticated patent matters for a diverse client base, including Fortune 50 companies and startups.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of patent attorney experience in biotech, an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences, and a track record of preparing and prosecuting patent

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience as a patent attorney in biotechnology or life sciences.
• Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences (e.g., molecular biology, genetics).
• Registration to practice before the USPTO in good standing.
• Admission to at least one State bar.
• Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the life sciences sector.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape searches and analyses.
• Advise clients on patent issues throughout the product lifecycle, including portfolio management and enforcement.
• Collaborate with clients, USPTO, and foreign associates on prosecution matters.
• Contribute to a collaborative environment that supports growth and client service excellence.

Duties

• Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the life sciences sector.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape searches and analyses.
• Advise clients on patent issues throughout the product lifecycle, including strategic consultation, portfolio management, and patent enforcement.
• Collaborate with clients, colleagues, the USPTO, and foreign associates regarding domestic and international patent prosecution matters.
• Contribute to a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment that supports professional growth and client service excellence.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a patent attorney in biotechnology.
• Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences, e.g., molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, etc.
• Superior academic credentials.
• Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to biologics or other large-molecule technologies.
• Experience in conducting searches and analyses for freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape assessments.
• Registration to practice before the USPTO in good standing.
• Admission to at least one State bar.
• Prior law firm experience preferred.
• Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
