Job summary

BCG Attorney Search is seeking a highly motivated Intellectual Property Associate with at least 2 years of experience in life sciences patenting for our Naples, FL office. The ideal candidate will handle complex patent matters for Fortune 50 clients and innovative startups, from strategy to prosecution.

Ideal candidates hold a Ph.D. in biological sciences and USPTO registration, with strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years as a patent attorney in biotechnology
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications for biologics/large-molecule tech
  • USPTO registration in good standing
  • Bar admission in at least one state
  • Prior law firm experience preferred

  • Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in life sciences
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape searches and analyses
  • Advise clients on patent issues throughout product lifecycle, including portfolio management and enforcement
  • Collaborate with clients, USPTO, and foreign associates on domestic and international prosecution
  • Contribute to a collaborative environment that supports growth and client service excellence

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Intellectual Property Associate with at least 2 years of experience in life sciences patenting in Naples, FL. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated patent matters for a diverse client base, including Fortune 50 companies and innovative start‑ups.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the life sciences sector.
  • Conduct freedom‑to‑operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape searches and analyses.
  • Advise clients on patent issues throughout the product lifecycle, including strategic consultation, portfolio management, and patent enforcement.
  • Collaborate with clients, colleagues, the USPTO, and foreign associates regarding domestic and international patent prosecution matters.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment that supports professional growth and client service excellence.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience as a patent attorney in biotechnology.
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences, e.g., molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, etc.
  • Superior academic credentials.
  • Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to biologics or other large‑molecule technologies.
  • Experience in conducting searches and analyses for freedom‑to‑operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape assessments.
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO in good standing.
  • Admission to at least one State bar.
  • Prior law firm experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
