Job summary

BCG Attorney Search seeks an Intellectual Property Associate with a focus on life sciences patenting in New York City. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of biotechnology patent experience and a Ph.D. in biological sciences is preferred.

USPTO registration and state bar admission are required, with prior law firm experience a plus. You will prepare and prosecute patent applications, conduct freedom-to-operate analyses, and advise clients across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Intellectual Property Associate with at least 2 years of experience in life sciences patenting in New York City, NY. Responsibilities

• Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the life sciences sector.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape searches and analyses.
• Advise clients on patent issues throughout the product lifecycle, including strategic consultation, portfolio management, and patent enforcement.
• Collaborate with clients, colleagues, the USPTO, and foreign associates regarding domestic and international patent prosecution matters.
• Contribute to a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment that supports professional growth and client service excellence.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience as a patent attorney in biotechnology.
• Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences, e.g., molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, etc.
• Superior academic credentials.
• Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to biologics or other large-molecule technologies.
• Experience in conducting searches and analyses for freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape assessments.
• Registration to practice before the USPTO in good standing.
• Admission to at least one State bar.
• Prior law firm experience preferred.
• Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
