Position: Intellectual Property Patent Agent – Life Sciences

A law firm seeks a highly motivated patent agent with at least 2 years of life sciences patenting experience to work in Miami, FL. The role offers opportunities for candidates with an advanced degree and strong background in biological sciences to engage in sophisticated patent matters for a diverse client base.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the life sciences sector.
• Advise clients on patent issues throughout the product lifecycle, including strategic consultation, portfolio management, and patent enforcement.
• Collaborate with clients, colleagues, the USPTO, and foreign associates regarding domestic and international patent prosecution matters.
• Contribute to a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment that supports professional growth and client service excellence.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience as a patent agent in biotechnology.
• Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to biologics or other large-molecule technologies.
• Experience in conducting searches and analyses for freedom-to-operate, IP due diligence, infringement, validity, and patent landscape assessments.
• Registration to practice before the USPTO in good standing.
• Prior law firm experience preferred.
• Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
