Raymond James in the United States is seeking a Life Underwriting Specialist to facilitate underwriting for life insurance applications, coordinating requirements, communicating with underwriters and financial advisors, and resolving issues to ensure client satisfaction.

The role collaborates with Life Care and other team members, adheres to department policies, and offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, PTO, and parental leave.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required with 5+ years in annuities, life insurance, long-term care, disability income products, or related financial services.
• Associates Degree with 1+ year experience in the same domains; Bachelors Degree preferred.
• Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training approved by HR.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to financial advisors/agents in completing life insurance applications.
• Develop and maintain contacts at insurance carriers.
• Keep abreast of product updates and underwriting guidelines.
• Update life team on underwriting issues.
• Work with licensing team on submitted business issues.
• Determine risk class and review medical information to ensure qualification.
• Communicate with insurance company regarding submitted applications.
• Update agency management system as cases move through underwriting.
• Provide status updates to financial advisors/agents.
• Review medical records to ensure receipt and impact on risk class.
• Forward medical records to carrier and align with underwriter.
• Assess risk class with in-house underwriter for cases approved differently from applied-for.
• Assist advisors in managing offers other than applied for.
• Submit informal applications for preliminary underwriting decisions.
• Review underwriting decisions and update internal records for final benefit and premium amounts.
• Provide back-up illustrations support.
• Perform second level review of submitted applications.
• Request updated illustrations for cases issued other than applied for.
