Job summary

Aeva Inc. in Mountain View, CA is seeking a LiDAR Test & Calibration Engineer to develop, validate, and maintain manufacturing test and calibration processes for LiDAR sensors in a high-volume production environment.

You will analyze production data with Python, SQL, JMP, and collaborate with Manufacturing, Product, and Quality teams to improve FPY, throughput, and OEE.

The role requires 1–3 years of related experience, strong Python skills, and willingness to travel up to 25% internationally.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years developing test processes for LiDAR or optical systems.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience with statistical analysis and SPC.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and maintain manufacturing test and calibration processes for LiDAR sensors.
• Work with suppliers to design and optimize automated production test stations, fixtures, and calibration equipment.
• Define production test sequences, acceptance criteria, and calibration algorithms.
• Analyze LiDAR performance metrics such as Range accuracy & precision, SNR, Signal intensity, Point cloud quality, Receiver sensitivity, etc.
• Perform root cause analysis of manufacturing failures and implement corrective actions.
• Improve FPY, throughput, and OEE.
• Develop SPC methods to monitor manufacturing quality.
• Create and maintain calibration procedures, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
• Support EVT, DVT, PVT, and MP builds.
• Work with automation engineers to integrate test equipment with MES.
• Analyze production data using Python, SQL, JMP to identify trends and improve process capability.
• Troubleshoot optical, electrical, and mechanical issues affecting production yield.
• Support NPI by transferring test and calibration processes to manufacturing.
• Provide on-site support at CM to qualify LiDAR test line and conduct failure triage.
• Assist product engineers and BD teams with RMA investigations.
