Job summary

Aeva, Inc. in Mountain View is seeking a Systems Engineer, LiDAR Characterization, to focus on the sensor itself—running tests in the lab and in the field, measuring performance, and debugging why it behaves as it does.

You will characterize sensor performance across scenarios, develop automation for testing, support field data collection, and work with hardware, optics, firmware, and algorithms teams to build a full end-to-end understanding of the 4D LiDAR system.

Qualifications

• MS in electrical engineering, physics, optics/photonics, or related field.
• 0–2 years of industry experience.
• Hands-on lab experience with sensors or optical systems.
• Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for data analysis.
• Methodical approach to debugging hardware, firmware, and software.
• Experience with LiDAR or perception sensors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run tests on LiDAR sensors in the lab and on vehicles.
• Develop automation software to accelerate lab testing and data collection.
• Support field data collection and logging of test conditions.
• Investigate system-level issues: reproduce problems and collect diagnostics.
• Help develop, run, and verify sensor calibration procedures.
• Analyze sensor data with Python or MATLAB and document results.
