Job summary

Aeva is seeking a Systems Engineer, LiDAR Characterization, to join the Systems team. You will characterize 4D LiDAR sensors, run tests in lab and field, and collaborate with engineering teams across optics, hardware, and firmware to understand performance from photonics to point cloud.

You will develop automation for lab testing, support sensor calibration, and analyze data with Python or MATLAB. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• MS in EE, Physics, Optics/Photonics, Mechanical Eng or related field; 0–2 years industry.
• Hands-on lab experience with sensors, optical systems or electronics test equipment.
• Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for data analysis; foundation in signal processing.
• Methodical debugging across hardware, firmware and software; clear communication.
• Experience with LiDAR, radar or perception sensors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run tests on LiDAR sensors in the lab and on vehicles.
• Develop automation software to accelerate lab testing and data collection.
• Support field data collection and log test conditions.
• Investigate system-level issues: reproduce, collect diagnostics and find root cause.
• Help develop, run and verify sensor calibration procedures.
• Analyze sensor data with Python or MATLAB and present results to the team.
