Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Reno, NV is seeking experienced Licensed Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The role offers a pay range of $22.25 to $32.00 per hour, with shift differentials for nights and weekends and a 6am–6pm schedule on Thurs, Fri, Sat.

You will support anesthesia, triage emergencies, radiography, and critical care tasks while growing your skills in a fast-paced environment alongside veterinary professionals.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) with active license in good standing.
• Proven ability to triage and manage emergency cases.
• Experience in anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients using monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and record vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Initiate CPR for at-risk patients.
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Mentor and train co-workers.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Licensed Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Reno, NV.

Schedule:

Thursday, Friday and Saturday 6am-6pm

LVT Pay:

$22.25 - $32.00/Hr

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through the Kahuna leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
