Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Irvine, CA is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. This role offers a starting pay band of $24.00–$49.00 per hour, with shift differentials for nights and weekends.

You will assist in triage, anesthesia induction and monitoring, radiography, venous access, and critical patient care, while mentoring teammates and contributing to compassionate, high-quality care for pets.

Qualifications

• Veterinary technician with emergency/critical care experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Obtain and interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Initiate CPR when needed.
• Administer medications and manage IV catheters.
• Place feeding tubes and central lines.
• Mentor and train coworkers.
• Provide empathetic client communication.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department .

Pay: $24.00 - $49.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential

Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50 Shift Differential

Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential

Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday - 6 AM - 4 PM

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.

• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.

• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.

• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.

• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.

• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.

• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.

• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.

• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
