Job summary

Petco in New York is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to support Vetco Total Care patients and provide exceptional customer care to owners. The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy in the EMR, and compassionate service in a busy hospital setting.

You will assist veterinarians, prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and help educate clients while maintaining a clean, organized hospital environment. Flexible collaboration with the team is required.

Qualifications

• Must have completed college or college-equivalent education as required to become a Credentialed Veterinary Technician.
• Must have at least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be compassionate and sympathetic under emotional situations.
• Must have telephone and computer skills.
• Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, document history in the EMR, and escort to exam rooms.
• Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Perform restraint, process lab samples, handle medications, and maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, and manage records and accounts.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthetized patients, and assist with recovery.
• Provide in-hospital treatments, maintain cleanliness, and participate in training.
