Job summary

The ASPCA's Community Medicine program in New York provides high-volume spay/neuter, preventive care, and treatment for underserved communities. CM technicians work with veterinarians to perform medical duties, including surgeries and outpatient care, across clinics and mobile units. Candidates must hold a NYS Veterinary Technician license (or obtain within 30 days).

English is required; bilingual Spanish is strongly preferred. Excellent animal handling and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduated from accredited school of veterinary science technology or equivalent.
• Must have current NYS Veterinary Technician license or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Surgery/Anesthesia experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for 35-40 cats and dogs per day in spay/neuter surgery.
• Administer injections, anesthetics, vaccines and medications.
• Monitor vital signs in pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases.
• Provide treatments and maintain patient records.
• Maintain a safe, low-stress environment and assist with exams and diagnostics.
• Enter medical information into digital databases; represent ASPCA professionally.
