Job summary

Trident Seafoods seeks an experienced vessel captain to oversee pre-season and daily operations of a processing vessel. You will ensure compliance with all laws, lead capital projects, and manage deck and navigation systems while coordinating with corporate teams.

The role requires a USCG Master License (5000 GRT) with OICNW & RFPNW, extensive seafood experience, and a strong emphasis on safety, training, and regulatory compliance across all operations.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid USCG Master License (5000 GRT) with OICNW & RFPNW.
• Extensive seafood industry experience preferred; four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: appropriate licenses/permits of trade (e.g., CG license of appropriate tonnage; STCW endorsement) and current First Aid and CPR cards.

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees the pre-season and day to day operations of the vessel; ensures compliance with local, state and federal laws and Trident policy.
• Leads capital projects with Corp. Manager and Chief Engineer including drydocking, installations and major purchases with budgeting and licensing compliance.
• Oversees vessel deck and navigation systems; resolves problems using appropriate techniques and concepts.
• Directs and oversees required documentation for primary vessel functions.
• Analyzes HR needs to assist with short- and long-term projects; coordinates with management and production staff on feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Oversees training for deck and engineering staff to ensure regulatory training and certification requirements are met.
• Maintains safety policies and a knowledge of new technologies to improve operations.
