Job summary

Olsson in Kansas is seeking a civil/structural engineer to join the South Facilities Engineering and Design team, taking ownership of design packages for building structural systems and coordinating across architectural, MEP, and site/civil teams.

You will apply codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC), mentor junior engineers, review submittals, and contribute to proposals. Full-time, competitive benefits and potential for flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering required.
• PE license is required.
• 4+ years of structural design experience on building projects.
• Proficiency with Revit/AutoCAD and familiarity with structural analysis tools (RISA, STAAD, SAP2000/ETABS).

Responsibilities

• Own design packages for building structural systems (steel, concrete, masonry, light gage).
• Produce and check drawings and models in Revit/AutoCAD; coordinate with architectural, MEP, and site/civil teams.
• Apply codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360) to ensure safe, constructible designs.
• Support project planning—estimate level of effort, sequence design tasks, maintain scope/schedule/quality.
• Participate in QA/QC by self-checks and peer reviews; incorporate redlines and lessons learned.
• Engage during construction—review submittals/RFIs, conduct site observations, document findings.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians through task guidance and standards adoption.
• Contribute to proposals (scope notes, resumes, past performance) and client meetings.
