Job summary

Swain Community Hospital in Sylva, NC seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for full-time day shift. Eligible candidates may receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment.

The role includes preparing exam rooms, assisting providers, drawing labs, and administering injections and medications under physician orders. Requirements include an active NC or compact LPN license, BLS within 30 days, ACLS/PALS within six months, and strong critical thinking with the ability to work under

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina or compact state LPN license.
• Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Must possess critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assists Providers with preparation and information documentation for the patient’s visit including obtaining vitals, medical history and other pertinent information from the patient.
• Prepares exam rooms for patients.
• Assists Providers with procedures as directed by the Provider.
• Assists with collection of lab samples.
• Gives injections, administers meds, and provides wound care as ordered by Provider.
• Documents all care and education in medical record.

What we're looking for

Requirements

• Applicants should have a current North Carolina or compact state Licensed Practical Nurse license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
