Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit. The role offers a 3x12s night schedule (7p-7a) with holidays/weekends required and a sign-on bonus up to $7,500 for eligible day-shift candidates with a 2-year commitment.

You will assess patient needs, document vitals and histories, assist with procedures, administer medications, and provide wound care in a collaborative team environment designed to deliver

Qualifications

  • Current North Carolina or compact state LPN license.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Providers with preparation and information documentation for the patient's visit including vitals and history.
  • Prepares exam rooms for patients.
  • Assists Providers with procedures as directed by the Provider.
  • Assists with collection of lab samples.
  • Gives injections, administers meds, and provides wound care as ordered by Provider.
  • Documents all care and education in medical record.

Join our team in a 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of Physicians, Advanced Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants. With a 6:1 ratio, you will play a crucial role in assessing patient's needs, administering treatments and ensuring patient comfort and safety. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses seeking to grow their skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. How You'll Contribute

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role:

  • Assists Providers with preparation and information documentation for the patient's visit including obtaining vitals, medical history and other pertinent information from the patient.
  • Prepares exam rooms for patients.
  • Assists Providers with procedures as directed by the Provider.
  • Assists with collection of lab samples.
  • Gives injections, administers meds, and provides wound care as ordered by Provider.

Documents all care and education in medical record.

What we're looking for
Requirements

Applicants should have a current North Carolina or compact state Licensed Practical Nurse license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
  • One year of experience preferred
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
