Summary

Participates as a member of the surgical team by scrubbing to ensure quality patient care during operative procedures, maintaining vigilance for the sterile field, and anticipating the surgeon's needs by handling instruments, supplies, and equipment.

Job Duties

• Facilitates safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures and ensures a safe operating room environment.
• Performs appropriate surgical counts and organizes case carts for upcoming procedures.
• Prepares the operating room in collaboration with the circulator by gathering and preparing sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Maintains the sterile field using aseptic techniques and ensures surgical equipment functions properly and safely.
• Performs cleaning and turnover in the operating room between cases.

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical School Diploma in LPN Program
• Less than 1 year of experience
• Ability to adapt to constant change within a healthcare setting
• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Knowledge of medical and surgical supplies and sterile techniques
• Time management and organizational skills
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification - State of Pennsylvania
• LPN license in Pennsylvania upon hire

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs., push/pull patients on beds or stretchers, perform lateral transfers, and stand/walk frequently. Activities may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
