Summary

Participates as a member of the surgical team by scrubbing to ensure quality patient care during operative procedures, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the surgeon's needs for instruments, supplies, and equipment.

Job Duties

• Facilitates the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring a safe operating environment.
• Performs surgical counts according to facility policy and organizes case carts for upcoming procedures.
• Prepares the operating room in collaboration with the circulator, gathering and preparing sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Prepares and maintains the sterile field using sterile and aseptic techniques, ensuring equipment functions properly and safely.
• Performs cleaning and turnover between cases in the operating room suite.

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical School Diploma from an LPN Program
• Less than 1 year of experience
• Ability to adapt to constant change within a healthcare setting
• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Knowledge of medical and surgical supplies and sterile techniques
• Time management and organizational skills
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - State of Pennsylvania
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license for Pennsylvania - Upon Hire

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples include pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight. Frequent standing and walking. Patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift. Activities may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
