Job summary

UP Health System Bell is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support the Occupational Medicine Clinic on a PRN basis. The role involves 8-hour day shifts with occasional varied scheduling, requiring MI LPN licensure and valid LPN/LVN program completion.

The position emphasizes patient care, documentation, and coordination with the RN and physicians, with strong emphasis on safety, privacy, and quality outcomes. Great benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Must hold Michigan LPN license and graduate from an LPN/LVN program.
• BLS-HCP certification within 30 days of hire.
• IOSH and CAHOC certifications within 6 months of hire.
• BAT and UDS certifications within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of ICD-9/10, CPT codes, and insurance benefits.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Schedules, appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re‑authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a state of Michigan LPN license and have graduated from an LPN or LVN Program. Additional requirements include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) (within 30 days of hire)
• IOSH and CAHOC certifications (within 6 months of hire)
• BAT and UDS certified (within 6 months of hire)
• Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds
